“The team, the guys. I love being here,” Walker said. “The coaches. I felt like something was missing, and I felt like I can get the most out of myself here for the last couple years that I have.

“A good amount. I’m gonna be playing a lot of receiver this year. I’m ready to get to work. I jumped right back in. It felt like an old pair of shoes you haven’t worn in a while. It feels good.”

Playing cornerback over the last year will benefit Walker now that he’s back playing wideout at Michigan, he said.

“I would say it’s gonna help me a hell of a lot,” Walker said. “Playing defense, you look at it at a different lens. What you feel good about, things you feel good in areas, what pushes you the wrong way when we’re back there. I just know all those tips, and how I’m going to approach the game and attack guys, I think it’s going to attack me a lot.”

Johnson, meanwhile, is attempting to have an even bigger season in 2024, after earning All-America honors in helping Michigan win the national championship last season.

“There’s always more,” Johnson explained. “I’m hungry for more. Last year, I would say I had a pretty good year, but I wasn’t where I wanted to be, at all. So I got a lot more to shoot for this year and just be the best version of me I can be.

“A lot of great team goals we have — obviously to win a national championship, Big Ten championship, beat all of our rivals. And just be the best leader I can and be the best version of me that I can be.”

Johnson was asked how he can stay even keeled despite receiving a lot of hype and the Michigan team having success last season.

“I mean, there are also a lot of people saying we won’t be good this year, so … we got a nice schedule this year, we got a great group of guys this year, we got some great coaches. So I really just look at it as the same mentality we had before, just, hard work is undefeated. No matter how hard we work, that’s going to show on the field.”
