Newsstand: Michigan football arrives in Houston for national championship game
Tweets Of The Day
Around 5:30 p.m. CT Friday evening, Michigan football arrived in Houston for the national championship game against Washington. The Wolverines are 14-0, with the most wins in a season in program history, and looking to finish undefeated for the first time since 1997, its last national title.
U-M and Washington will have media day and practice tomorrow, before the two head coaches — Jim Harbaugh and Kalen DeBoer — meet for a joint press conference Sunday morning.
Former Alabama receiver and Miami Dolphins standout Jaylen Waddle sported Michigan gear during a press conference Friday, after losing a bet with Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel on the Rose Bowl between U-M and Alabama. Garfinkel attended U-M, earning his MBA at the Ross School of Business.
Champions Circle™, the NIL “collective” supporting University of Michigan student-athletes, Friday announced that it has launched a new campaign, the “Those Who Stay” NIL campaign, to retain key Michigan student-athletes amid a landscape where other schools are constantly trying to induce Michigan football players to change schools.
Champions Circle™ Co-Founder, CEO of Valiant Management Group, and Michigan Football alum Jared Wangler said, “To continue the success that Michigan Football has had the last several years, we need the resources to retain our student-athletes who are not only talented but great ambassadors of the program and university. The whole U-M family has to step up now and show every one of these student-athletes how much we appreciate them and want them back for the 2024 season.”

Quote Of The Day
“It’s tough right now because they are getting ready to play for a national championship. They might not be in contact as much as Oregon. But when they are, it’s ‘hey, just remember, we’re not in contact as much because we’re preparing for the national championship game, and that’s what we do around here.’ That’s a big thing for Gatlin. He’s a winner. That’s what he wants to do. They’ve done a really good job of presenting to him how he fits in their culture and how they can make him into a better him. For a kid that’s already finely tuned as an athlete and have an opportunity to go there and get better is very appetizing. They do a good job of selling that to him.”
