Michigan football's kick time for road game at Michigan State, vs. Purdue revealed
Michigan football had two kickoff times revealed on Wednesday afternoon as Big Ten Football Media Days got going in Indianapolis, headlined by an Oct. 21 kickoff at Michigan State set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The news was first reported by Brett McMurphy of Action Network.
Also packed away in McMurphy’s announcement is that the home game against Purdue on Nov. 4 vs. Purdue will also be a night game set for 7:30 p.m. from Ann Arbor. Both kick times are pending a decision on being flexed to another network.
As far as the Michigan/MSU kick time goes, it seems likely it might stick if FOX has the first pick of games that week, which features Penn State at Ohio State.
Of course, the kick time for the game against the Spartans will be a talking point after the post-game shenanigans in the tunnel at Michigan Stadium. Michigan will be looking for its first two-game win streak in the rivalry since the 2018 and 2019 seasons against the Spartans. Michigan is 4-4 against its in-state rival since head coach Jim Harbaugh arrived in 2015.

With new TV partners this season in NBC and CBS, along with FOX, more options are on the table than ever as it pertains to marquee games. Each network drafts games each week with a different entity having the first pick. This is the last year that the SEC will have games televised on CBS, so the 3:30 p.m. slot may not always feature a Big Ten game. CBS moves in full to the Big Ten in 2024 with the SEC heading over to ESPN’s family of networks full-time.
FOX is expected to broadcast the largest share of the Big Ten games with around 30 broadcasts each season. CBS and NBC are set to hold around 15-18 games per year, according to multiple media reports. The Big Ten’s new deal with FOX, CBS and NBC is worth an estimated $8 billion.
