Wolverine TV: Biggest takeaways from Harbaugh's fall camp presser
Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh took to the podium on Tuesday afternoon as confident and forthright as ever in speaking to the media, but where does that confidence come from? The foundation is being at the head of one of the best teams in America heading into the 2023 season, but there is more to it.
John Borton and Tom Crawford discussed that in their Tuesday night show and how Harbaugh’s confidence is palpable right now.
“This is where he wanted this program to be ready to contend for another championship, ready to take down Ohio State again, ready to go for the big prize,” Borton said. “You could tell just the way, and we’ll get into some of the reasons why, but there is a real self-assurance to Jim Harbaugh these days that just projects confidence, and his team has the same thing. I think they’re very ready to go in this season.”
Despite that confidence, Crawford believes that this could very well be Harbaugh’s last season at Michigan given the NCAA situation lingering.
If the NCAA comes at him, he’s going to win another Big Ten Championship,” Crawford said. “As long as he wins another Big Ten Championship as a low watermark, and this is my opinion, guys, he’s gone after this year. Bo Schemmechler said 10 years and you’re good.
“That’s as much as you should handle in this particular position. And I think Jim wants to challenge himself to get back to the Super Bowl and win it this time. I think he’s fed up with all this crap. I think that’s why he has this kind of this bravado about him. He’s just really got some swag to him and, and he’s not bothered by anything.
“And so I think he’s not going to be there after next year. I think a year from now, we’re going to have a new head football coach at Michigan.”
