Michigan football sent a trio of contributors to the podium on Friday afternoon in junior running back Blake Corum, junior EDGE defender Jaylen Harrell and senior wide receiver Cornelius Johnson. Each discusses a key storyline or two at their respective position groups as fall camp continues.

The Wolverines find themselves 16 days away from the start of the new season. Corum discussed the dynamic of the running back room and replacing Hassan Haskins. Harrell dished on new teammate –former five-star transfer Eyabi Anoma – and what he brings to the table. Johnson shed light on the depth in the wide receiver room and his role.

Michigan running back Blake Corum

One key quote: “It really wasn’t the idea [to bulk up for this season]. It was literally just putting in work, honestly — eating right, hydrating better. That’s what it led to. I really wasn’t trying to, it kind of just happened, so I feel good. I feel good right now. If anything, I feel faster. It didn’t change my game at all. Maybe bring a little more power with a little more weight with it. But nothing really [changed].”

EDGE defender Jaylen Harrell

One key quote: “[Eyabi Anoma] got here [Thursday]. He’s around. Welcomed him in with open arms. Cool guy. Excited to be ready to learn, and I’m helping him a little bit with the playbook and stuff like that.”

On if his past has come up at all: “We keep that out of it. I don’t even know why he left the other schools. We know he’s here. He’s cool. He can be a great teammate for us. We don’t really worry about what happened in the past.”

Wide Receiver Cornelius Johnson

One key quote: “For our receiver room, we always pride ourselves on being prepared for anything. Especially as route runners, our job is to get open no matter what — even if it’s a run, pass, we’re always trying to contribute anyway. Once we get that opportunity, for all of the receivers, we’ve got to be ready once it comes to us, including the depth.”
