Michigan football is sitting at 10-0 to start the season with a lot of action to go to sort out where they will be going bowling. Of course, the eyes are on the biggest prize in terms of winning a national championship.
Things are starting to narrow as we move into Tuesday night’s College Football Playoff rankings. The CFP order is expected to go: 1. Georgia, 2. Ohio State, 3. Michigan and 4. Tennessee on Tuesday night. Michigan staying at No. 3 is essentially a 2a and 2b scenario with Ohio State. The team that wins The Game on Nov. 26 is heading to the CFP if it wins a Big Ten title. The other will sit on its hands and hope for help.
But as of now, there are 3 potential bowl destinations for Michigan. Should it make the playoff, the Wolverines will head to either Atlanta, Georgia for the Peach Bowl or Glendale, Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl. Both CFP semifinals are set for Dec. 31. Advancing through either of those would put them in Inglewood, California at SoFi Stadium on Jan. 9 for the national title game.
Getting left out of the playoff would mean the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2.
A few outlets this week switched off from their CFP projections for Michigan, instead slotting them to the Rose Bowl. ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura has the Wolverines facing off against Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl before facing Georgia in the national title game in Inglewood. The Athletic is projecting a Fiesta Bowl date with TCU.
