“A night of celebration,” third-year quarterback Cade McNamara said on Sunday afternoon at Schembechler Hall. “The boys being able to hold the trophy on the bus. As soon as we came off the bus with the plane waiting for us, just soaking it in as a team, it’s the best moment. This is something we’re going to remember the rest of our lives and this is a great group to do it with.”
McNamara and Michigan made sure head coach Jim Harbaugh was heavily involved in the celebration, hitting him with a double dose of Gatorade at the end of the 42-3 win over Iowa.
“We dunked Coach Harbaugh in the Gatorade (and) we got him good,” McNamara said. “We got him twice, too. He was drenched from head to toe. He deserves it (and) deserves all the love.
“We give coach all the credit. He’s led us here. He’s put us in the position for us to succeed at the highest level. He truly cares about his players — we know that. This team not only loves each other but we love playing for Coach Harbaugh.”
McNamara also reflected on the totality of the season on Sunday afternoon. What Michigan accomplished was not much of a surprise to him, but the way they beat their rivals south of the state line seemed to resonate.

“Honestly, maybe I was expecting the Ohio State game would be a little closer,” he said. “Other than that, I think we’ve handled business well.”
McNamara elaborated on the Ohio State mention in a follow-up response.
“We know that they’re a really good team. I knew that we had a chance to run the ball on them, but I didn’t think we would just honestly physically dominate them at that level.”
A date with the Georgia Bulldogs is next on the docket for Michigan on Dec. 31 in the Orange Bowl in Miami. McNamara has not turned the page to them just yet, but will be hopping in sometime on Sunday.
“I’ll probably get into them later today,” he said. “I’ve already watched the Iowa game.”
Michigan football’s New Year’s Eve tilt with Georgia is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Alabama and Cincinnati will meet in the other College Football Playoff showdown at 3:30 p.m.
