Wolverines in the NFL: Chris Wormely exacts revenge on Baltimore Ravens, Tom Brady tosses four touchdowns, more
Former Michigan defensive lineman Chris Wormley was out for revenge. The current Steeler who was traded from the Baltimore Ravens registered a career-high 2.5 sacks and five tackles while helping Pittsburgh to a 20-19 victory over his former squad.
“I told Worm when he got here, I said, ‘Man, when a team trades you within the division, they’re telling you what they think of you,’ so I hope he always plays like that when he sees them,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said.
“I think that no matter what the week is and who we’re playing I want to be able to perform well, but it’s extra special to do it against the team who traded you away,” Wormley added.
All told, Baltimore signal-caller Lamar Jackson was sacked seven times. The game came down to the wire, with Baltimore scoring a touchdown to bring it within one point with under a minute to play, but the Ravens were unsuccessful on their potential game-winning two-point conversion try.
Elsewhere in the NFL, former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady, who was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year this week, threw for 368 yards and four touchdowns. The MVP favorite hadn’t surpassed the 300-yard mark in the previous three contests.
The Buccaneers have now won three straight games, after enduring a two-game slide in late October / early November. They’re still on top of the NFC South by four games and should comfortably make the playoffs. Tampa Bay is jockeying for position at the top of the conference, and would hold the No. 3 seed if the postseason began now.
“Our best football is ahead of us and we’re in a decent position, 9-3, going home for the biggest game of our year against the Bills,” Brady said Sunday.
Here is an update on every former Michigan player in the NFL for Week 13:
