Michigan football countdown to kickoff: 19 days until 2022 season
There’s much anticipation heading into the Michigan Wolverines football season, and TheWolverine.com is counting down the days until the Sept. 3 opener against Colorado State. We’ll discuss current Michigan events, the upcoming season and/or take a look at a significant number that correlates with how many days remain until kickoff, whether it be a player’s jersey number, a year, a date, a score, etc.
Michigan football has 19 days until the 2022 season kicks off. Today we take a look at the team’s resident No. 19, sophomore safety Rod Moore.
Moore is expected to man one of the starting safety spots this season for the Wolverines. He appeared in 11 games last season with four stars, making 32 tackles and breaking up a pass.
He was injured during the spring, but returned for fall camp and has been duking it out for his starting job back. Head coach Jim Harbaugh as been a fan of what he has seen.
“He’s back, flying around, doing Rod Moore stuff, and he’s leading, too,” Harbaugh said. “You ask where the leadership’s coming from? There’s a guy that you make an example to other players. ‘You want to do it right, you want to be good, emulate the things that Rod Moore does.’
‘We teach tackling. We have a great ‘teach the game’ segment, and tackling is one of them. The type of different tackles that a defensive player could make. Rod Moore showed up on that tape five times. It wasn’t on purpose, it was just … these are some of the best tackles in the season, examples of tackling.”
There have been plenty of questions about who replaces Daxton Hill at safety. Moore figures to be one of those guys and does just about everything asked of him well. Keep an eye on him as a potential breakout player this season.
