Amorion Walker made his commitment and signing with Michigan football official on Wednesday.

Michigan football has scored big on signing day.

The Wolverines earned a signature from four-star Ponchatoula (La.) High wide receiver Amorion Walker.

“I love Michigan,” Walker said. “I love Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. We talk almost every day. Coach Ron Bellamy talks to me almost every day. They make it feel like a family. They make sure I’m good on every aspect of living.”

Walker had been committed to Notre Dame since March. However, Michigan recruited him hard all offseason and into the fall. The Wolverines made a power move in September when they hosted him for the game against Washington.

That trip really set the wheels in motion for a flip.

“It was great out there,” Walker said. “Great city, great people, great coaches and a great football team. There is nothing really bad I can say about it.”

Michigan safeties coach Ron Bellamy, a Louisiana native, played for Walker’s high school head coach, Hank Tierney, and spurned top southern programs to play for the Wolverines back in 1999.

Bellamy led the way in Walker’s recruitment and built a special bond with him.

“We had the same high school coach, so that really brought us together,” Walker said. “It feels like we connect. We have so much in common. We both played wide receiver in high school and have similar stats and similar frames. We connect a lot, and I relate to him a lot.”

Walker is the 21st member of Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class.

At 6-foot-2, 160 pounds, Walker is ranked as the No. 69 wide receiver and No. 446 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus.

The early signing period began on midnight on Dec. 15 and runs through Friday, Dec. 17. All of Michigan’s 2022 football commits that plan on signing are expected to do so on Wednesday.
