Newsstand: Eyabi Anoma added to Michigan football roster
Tweets Of The Day
Former Alabama, Houston and UT-Martin EDGE Eyabi Anoma has enrolled at Michigan and is on the Wolverines’ roster. He’s listed as ‘Ayebi Anoma,’ though it’s not clear if that’s a typo or not. Either way, he’s 6-5, 244 pounds, after checking in at 6-6, 270 pounds per UT-Martin’s 2021 roster. That’s a 26-pound weight loss.
Michigan freshman defensive back Damani Dent made an announcement alluding to him not being available to play … but the reason why is unknown at this point.
On3 analyst J.D. PicKell gives his thoughts on the Michigan quarterback battle.
“The feel we’ve gotten from our reporters at The Wolverine … they said, ‘As of right now, Cade McNamara is likely going to take the first snap in game one. With that being said, they will both play,’” PicKell said on The Hard Count. “They’re both going to play, OK? So you’re going to see JJ McCarthy and Cade McNamara, kind of similar to how you did a season ago. But ultimately, I think they want somebody to eventually take the reins fully.
“Now, JJ McCarthy is a really good athlete and adds a whole new element to this offense with a … dual-threat quarterback that you don’t have with Cade McNamara. So similar to Auburn [with] Robby Ashford, you give JJ McCarthy a couple of packages depending on how this year plays out. But all that’s to say Cade McNamara has the edge right now just because of his experience, his credential, his skins on the wall that he already has. He’s a guy that they feel like has done nothing to lose the job.”

Quote Of The Day
“I knew about Nikhai and Junior, and they’ve been what we thought they would be. They’ve been really good, and so has Mike Barrett. But I’ve been really happy with the two young linebackers — the two inside guys. We recruited the right guys. We got the right guys for that position. There’s a good chance they’ll be playing quite a bit of football this fall.”
