Michigan football future schedules, opponents through 2034: Next three years set, additions coming soon
The Michigan Wolverines played one of their most difficult schedules in program history in 2024, headlined by four College Football Playoff teams on the docket. The schedules moving forward should be a little more forgiving, at least on the surface, as the Wolverines look to move themselves back into the national title conversation.
We had known the opponents for next season ahead of time, but the slate was officially locked in this fall. Currently, the 2026 and 2027 slates are known in full, but date and time assignments will come later on. As far as the 2028 and 2029 schedules go, it seems logical that more non-conference games will be announced in the near future.
Below is an overview of what Michigan will host in the immediate future, as well as some of the road trips on the books.
Michigan football 2025 schedule
Aug. 30 vs. New Mexico
Michigan and New Mexico have never met on the gridiron, and the Wolverines will get a chance to break in its new offense and quarterback, whomever it may be, in the season opener.
Sept. 6 at Oklahoma
This will be *the* bucket list road trip for Michigan fans next year, heading to Norman to take on a Sooners team that is also looking to get up off the mat after a down season. Head coach Sherrone Moore returns to his alma mater looking to tie the all-time series at 1-1 after Oklahoma’s 14-6 win in 1976 in Miami.
Sept. 13 vs. Central Michigan
Michigan is 4-0 all-time against the Chippewas with the last meeting in the series coming in 2013, a 59-9 Wolverines victory. Michigan State fans will be hate-watching this one.
Sept. 20 at Nebraska
The Wolverines make a return trip to Lincoln to close out their November slate and open Big Ten play. U-M won 45-7 during its previous meeting in Lincoln on Sept. 30, 2023.
Sept. 27 – BYE
Oct. 4 vs. Wisconsin
U-M and U-W renew their series in Ann arbor after a four-year hiatus. The last time Michigan played, the Wolverines won 38-17 in Madison.
Oct. 11 at USC
USC will be out for revenge in this game after dropping a 27-24 decision in its first-ever Big Ten conference matchup in 2024.
Oct. 18 vs. Washington
The Huskies got their revenge on Oct. 5, 2024, beating Michigan 27-17 after the Wolverines had won the last two games in the series, including a 34-13 win in the College Football Playoff national title game to close out 2023.
Oct. 25 at Michigan State
U-M has a three-game win streak and has taken a stranglehold back of its in-state rivalry, most recently with a 24-17 win on Oct. 26, 2024.
