WATCH: Michigan has a chance at real momentum after MSU win
The Michigan Wolverines got back in the win column against Michigan State on Saturday night, but is it a turning point or a reprieve from what has been an underwhelming season?
A matchup with No. 1 Oregon follows this weekend, which will be a true test of progress and a potential turnaround. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, either.
TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss the fallout from Michigan’s win over MSU, if there’s some momentum within the program, Dusty May’s Monday press conference and more.
“I’m not going to sit there and say, man, that was a great offensive performance when they had 250 yards or something like that,” Balas said. “I will say that they took advantage of some opportunities there. And I really didn’t think they won the trenches on either side of the ball, with the exception of they did a good job in pass protection. Michigan State ran the ball way too easily… Gator on 97.1 today said, I really felt Michigan State lost this game more than Michigan won it, which is a coping mechanism, right?
“At the same time, some of the mistakes they made. And somebody pointed this out. If they kick that field goal, a 25-yarder at the beginning of the game and they don’t get that first down, right? That run at the end of the first half to put themselves in position to maybe go after some points. Then the Aiden Chiles fumble never happens and you don’t get that field goal. And then Michigan State is kicking a field goal at the end to try to win the game. So it’s crazy. It just takes a couple of little things here and there.

“The one turnover was absolutely huge. And we said all week, if Michigan doesn’t turn the ball over, they’re going to have a much better chance to win this football game, but they had to withstand a horrible, horrible quarter of football.”
