WATCH: Hope reigns supreme heading into Ohio State week
The Michigan Wolverines have not had the season most expected, but hope has arrived in the short and long term coming off a 50-6 win over Northwestern, a big week on the recruiting trail and a showdown with the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday in Columbus..
TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Clayton Sayfie and Chris Balas discuss an extremely productive week for Michigan football with the commitment of Bryce Underwood, a blowout win over Northwestern and a big opportunity ahead against Ohio State. All of those topics are covered, in addition to Sherrone Moore’s Monday press conference and your questions.
“Michigan seems confident and you never know in a rivalry game,” Balas said on the show. “You just don’t. So, seeing them put up a 50 burger on anybody and the offense doing things that we didn’t think they were capable of, the adjustments they made in the running game to get that going, at least gives you a sliver of hope.
I don’t think they’re going to win this football game on Saturday, but it’s not the death march that it used to be when we were going down there watching Rich Rodriguez teams or Brady Hoke teams. I think there’s at least a shot. I think this defensive line gives him a chance to hang around a little bit.
“So I would love to see Davis Warren get a win down there, guys. That would be unbelievable to me.”

“Thanksgiving helps you pass the time,” Sayfie said. “It goes so slow beause you’re just waiting for kickoff. I can’t wait until we get down to Columbus. Michigan hoping they can go down and continue to dominate this series because that’s what they’ve done against Ohio State to the point that Ryan Day’s on the hot seat. In a certain respect, they’re the betting favorite right now to win the national championship.
“And if he loses this game, I don’t know that he survives another week. They could certainly still get in the College Football Playoff, but if they don’t and they lose to Michigan, I think he’s done. So that’s just a crazy spot to be in. The betting favorite to be the national champion. Yet if you lose this weekend, you may not have a job. I shall say this. If he does lose this game and still wins the natty, then I think they keep them. But I mean, you better win the natty if you lose to Michigan again.”
