Nine former Michigan football players were eliminated on Wild Card weekend in the NFL, while 12 still remain heading into the divisional round. Seven of the eight teams that are still alive have at least one former Wolverine on its roster.

Defensive end Rashan Gary and left guard Jon Runyan of the Green Bay Packers and left tackle Taylor Lewan of the Tennessee Titans all had first-round byes, but will be back in action this weekend. The Packers will host defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, cornerback Ambry Thomas, safety Jarrod Wilson and the San Francisco 49ers Saturday night, while Chris Evans and the Bengals are set to take on Lewan and Co. in Nashville Saturday afternoon.

Former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady was stellar in leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 31-15 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He completed 29 of his 37 pass attempts for 271 yards and two touchdowns while missing several key offensive weapons. That marked Brady’s 35th career playoff win, which is just two shy of his former team, the New England Patriots, who have the most postseason victories out of any franchise with 37.

Tampa Bay will host the Rams Sunday afternoon, after Los Angeles notched a dominant, 34-11 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Monday night. Former Michigan cornerback David Long Jr. is a key bench player for the squad, and had an interception returned for a touchdown against the division rival.

The Kansas City Chiefs proved that they’re once again a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl when they blew out the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night, 42-21, with former Michigan defensive ends Frank Clark and Mike Danna and backup quarterback Chad Henne eliminating former Wolverine linebacker Devin Bush Jr., who had an interception, defensive end Taco Charlton, tight end Sean McKeon and defensive tackle Chris Wormley. The Chiefs are slated to battle the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium.

A Michigan player has been on the Super Bowl-winning team each of the last seven seasons, and Vegas odds say there’s a great chance the streak continues this season. The Packers are the favorite with 15-4 odds, according to BetMGM, while the Chiefs are second at 4-1 and the Buccaneers are tied with the Bills — the only team still alive without a former Michigan player on its roster — in third at 11-2.
