First Quarter

Michigan won the coin toss and elected to defer, which put the defense on the field first on Saturday. Indiana went 36 yards in 11 plays before the Wolverines were able to get off the field and force a punt. Michigan took over on its own three-yard line but would punt after four quick plays.

The Wolverines got the scoring started on a 34-yard field goal from junior Jake Moody to go up 3-0 as the first quarter ended. The drive went 63 yards in 15 plays.

Second Quarter

The Hoosiers got the ball back after the Michigan field goal and fumbled on their third play of the quarter. Third-year pass rusher David Ojabo forced a sack/fumble on Indiana quarterback Donovan McCulley with 13:53 left in the quarter.

The Wolverines took over on the IU 24 yard line. Fourth-year junior running back Hassan Haskins closed out the drive with a four-yard run to put Michigan up 10-0 with 12:35 to play.

The Hoosiers would respond with a scoring drive of their own, going 75 yards in 10 plays to pull within 10-7 with 8:12 to play. The drive was capped off by a one-yard touchdown from Indiana rusher Chris Childers.

Haskins bust into the open field for a 62-yard rush on the next offensive play for the Wolverines, setting them up in the red zone. Third-year freshman Cade McNamara found junior Luke Schoonmaker for a 12-yard touchdown to put Michigan up 17-7 with 6:28 left in the half.

The half would conclude with Michigan football leading 17-7 after two quarters.

Third Quarter

The Wolverines added to their total with a 32-yard Moody field goal to take a 20-7 lead with 5:44 to go in the third quarter. The drive went 62 yards in 11 plays with the entirety of the drive being helmed by freshman J.J. McCarthy. Michigan added another Moody field goal from 34 yards out to extend the lead to 23-7 with 1:17 to go.

Fourth Quarter

Michigan did not have to lean on its kicker in its first offensive drive of the quarter. A 50-yard strike from McNamara to third-year wideout Cornelius Johnson put the Wolverines back in the red zone. They capitalized with a touchdown on an eight-yard throw from McNamara to Schoonmaker. That put Michigan up 29-7 with 13:39 left after a two-point attempt failed.

The Wolverines would mostly sit on the ball for the fourth quarter outside of a McCarthy interception with 2:43 to play. Indiana was unable to score and punted the ball to the Wolverines with 30 seconds to go. Michigan would kneel and head out of the stadium as 29-7 victors.
