Minter is entering his first year at Michigan, after coordinating the Vanderbilt defense last season. He worked with former Michigan coordinator Mike Macdonald with the Baltimore Ravens and runs a similar system, which has provided continuity for the Maize and Blue. Minter actually talked about how, despite him being new, it feels like ‘year two’ of the defensive scheme because of how close it is to what Macdonald implemented at Michigan. Minter also discussed some spring practice standouts, how the rest of the defensive staff is working together, what it’s like having his father on staff as an analyst and more.

Clinkscale is in his second season in Ann Arbor, and was promoted to co-coordinator this offseason after his unit finished top 25 nationally in passing defense during the 2021 regular season. Clinkscale said that since he came in last season after spring ball, he’s had more time this spring to fine tune the details for his group. Clinkscale discussed how forcing more turnovers is at the top of his priority list, and that he’s not satisfied with how his Michigan defensive backs played last season despite them making huge jumps from the year prior. He also pointed out some Michigan spring practice standouts and much more.
