Michigan press conference notes
Here are some notes from Harbaugh’s Wednesday press conference regarding what was discussed:
• Harbaugh discussed his Michigan quarterbacks, particularly senior Cade McNamara and sophomore J.J. McCarthy, both of whom are battling for the starting job. He said the race is still too close to call, and that they’ll continue to evaluate. He did reveal that there’s still enough time for one man to separate himself but that there’s a possibility the competition could go into the season.
• Harbaugh revealed that the health of the Michigan team is strong, and that there are no major injuries. He said players are taking care of themselves and embracing some of what legendary Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps told them today about ice, rest and sleep.
• Harbaugh gave some top contenders to be Michigan’s third running back behind Blake Corum and Donovan Edwareds.
• The Michigan coach talked about emerging leaders and “tone-setters” on the team, pointing to some veterans who have stepped up in the absence of some of the players the Maize and Blue lost from last season.
