Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh took to the podium after the 34-27 win over the Maryland Terrapins to recap his team’s performance and what he learned about his group on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback J.J. McCarthy had another standout showing, finishing 18-for-26 for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns.

“Did a lot of great things, game on the line throws to Roman, to Ronnie Bell, just to name a couple,” Harbaugh said. “I thought he worked the ball up to the tight end Schoonmaker who had a great game, seven catches, career high for him. Kind of settled into playing good, fundamental football.”

Harbaugh also singled out the play of junior running back Blake Corum.

“Amazing day for Blake,” Harbaugh said. “And a lot of guys made big plays. Talk about Ronnie and Roman, DJ Turner comes up with a big interception in the first half, RJ Moten in the second half. Opening kickoff is a great way to start a game. Great recovery by Matt Hibner. Can’t tell you we drew it up like that, but it’s great that we jumped on their mistake.”
