After delivering a speech to campers that included advice on working hard and improving their games, Harbaugh spoke to the media and discussed the following topics.
• In-state talent in Michigan: Harbaugh said the talent in the state is at a high level and getting better by the year, even drawing back to his experience as a high school player at Ann Arbor Pioneer in the 1980s.
• The quarterback battle between redshirt sophomore Cade McNamara and sophomore J.J. McCarthy: Harbaugh said it would be better to ask McCarthy exactly where he is physically — by all accounts, he’s nearing 100 percent — but that he expects the battle to be competitive during August’s training camp and that “the best player” will play. He also added much more on the topic.
• Name, Image and Likeness: It’s all the rage in the college athletics world right now, after the NCAA passed new legislation last summer. Other college coaches around the country have weighed in and given strong opinions, but Harbaugh kept it simple with he and Michigan’s approach.
• The transfer portal: Harbaugh said more and more players are going in, and discussed the two additions Michigan made this offseason, one on each line.

• The status of Michigan graduate wide receiver Ronnie Bell: The wideout injured his ACL in the season-opener last season, but is nearing 100 percent. Harbaugh discussed his expectations for Bell going forward.
• Senior Mike Sainristil and if he will stick on defense: It was Harbaugh’s idea to move the Michigan wide receiver to defensive back before spring ball, and the transition went well. Now, the question is if he can play both ways this fall, something Harbaugh discussed.
