Big Ten awards: J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum win individual awards, 11 offensive honorees overall
The Michigan Wolverines cleaned up with Big Ten hardware for the second day in a row with 11 players earning all-conference nods on offense, headlined by Big Ten Quarterback of the Year J.J. McCarthy and Big Ten Running Back of the Year Blake Corum.
McCarthy’s nod makes him the first quarterback in Michigan history to win the award since its inception in 2011. McCarthy threw for 2,483 yards with 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions during the regular season, completing 74.3% of his passes at 9.7 yards per attempt and holds a 24-1 record as a starter at Michigan.

Corum’s recognition as the best running back in the conference is the second year in a row he has won the award. He is the fourth player in Big Ten history to win the award twice, joining Wisconsin’s Montee Ball (2011-12) and Jonathan Taylor (2018-19) and Penn State’s Saquon Barley (2016-17). Corum has 976 yards rushing and an FBS-leading 22 rushing scores, a single-season program record, this year. He is also this year’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Both McCarthy and Corum were consensus first-team All-Big Ten picks, while tight end Colston Loveland and offensive lineman LaDarius Henderson, Drake Nugent and Zak Zinter also received first-team honors.
Zinter and Nugent were first-team honorees by both the coaches and media, while Henderson and Loveland were picked by the coaches on the first team and the media on the second team.
Guard Trevor Keegan and wide receiver Roman Wilson were second-team picks by the coaches and media and Karsen Barnhart was a second-team selection by the coaches and third-team by the media.
The Wolverines had a pair of honorable mentions in tight end AJ Barner, who was named by both the coaches and media, and wide receiver Cornelius Johnson, who received a nod in the media ballot.
