Michigan football’s trip around the state is complete and we have entered the calm before the storm. The Wolverines are laying back for a few days before prep for the 2022 season kicks into high gear. Training camp for the fall begins on Wednesday, August 3.

It will be exactly a month of prep before the season opener against Colorado State on Sept. 3.

“t’s been a tremendous off-season for the Michigan Wolverine football program,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said at Big Ten Media Days. “Our guys from literally days after our final game last year have been at work, attacking everything they do. There’s been zero entitlement the entire off-season and now and none really in the foreseeable future. So life is good.

“Biological clock is ticking, and we’re ready to start and get the training camp underway.

For Michigan, the goal will be to not only repeat as conference champs, but push things forward and compete for a national title. Harbaugh sees the group as taking the baton from last year’s.

“It’s been a really good continuation from last year’s team,” he said. “I think some of it, players that were on the team, they put in that work, they know what it was like, that good feeling of taking care of your business and having that success and being rewarded for it.

“They also saw other players on the team, guys like Aidan Hutchinson, Hassan Haskins, David Ojabo, who put in that work, got that work in, and how much it paid off for them. Using your head, using your noodle, it’s pretty easy to think, yeah, I want to do it just like they did; I want to be where they are now. It’s been a continuation of that this entire off-season and just been tremendous.”

Michigan quote of the day

“The Big House literally stands for everything Michigan embodies — big energy and academics. Coach (Ron) Bellamy is so chill and transparent, I really have a good connection with him. It’s like talking to my pops when we chop it up. He’s covering everything I need to know on my journey, from academics, business, life, family, the game, and life after the game. That’s the type of energy that stands out to me. Overall, it was a great visit. I had a great time, and my family did as well.”
