Michigan football added its second member to the 2024 recruiting class on Saturday in the form of international defensive lineman Manuel Beigel. Beigel, who stands at 6-5, 282 pounds, hails from Frankfurt, Germany and made his announcement via social media on Saturday afternoon. He is currently unranked by both On3 and the On3 Consensus.

“I am 100% committed to [Michigan football],” Beigel tweeted on Saturday afternoon. “Thank you to everyone who supported me with my dreams coming from Germany to the USA.”

Tagged in his social media post were defensive line coach Mike Elston, head coach Jim Harbaugh, Brandon Collier of the PPI international placement program and others. Beigel will be playing his high school football at Choate Rosemary Hall in Walingford, Connecticut.

The 6-foot-5, 282-pounder impressed Elston and the Michigan staff at one of its on-campus camps this summer and is set to play his junior season at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut.

“Manuel has played soccer for most of his life, so he has really good feet,” Collier told The Wolverine recently. “He’s right at about 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, so he’s a big kid that can move around. He’s really athletic and ran a 4.9 40 this summer. It’ll be exciting to see what he’s going to become in two years. Michigan was that first big offer, and I know they’re up there with him, too.”

Beigel is the second international commit with ties to Collier in as many days. Class of 2023 EDGE Aymeric Koumba out of France announced his pledge to Michigan on Friday afternoon.

Beigel joins four-star linebacker Mason Curtis (Nashville, Tennessee) as Michigan’s first 2024 commits. Curtis is the nation’s No. 194-ranked prospect and committed on June 27.

Most of Michigan’s recruiting efforts are focused on the 2023 class, where the program has 12 players currently lined up to join the program. The class so far is headlined by five four-star prospects in DL Enow Etta, RB Cole Cabana, IOL Amir Herring, LB Semaj Bridgeman and EDGE Collins Achaempong.
