Newsstand: Michigan football leads nation in home crowd attendance in 2023

Tweets Of The Day
Michigan led the nation in average and total attendance this season, drawing 109,971 attendees per game and 769,797 for the season (seven home games).
Michigan offensive coordinator and line coach Sherrone Moore was a finalist for the Broyles Award, handed to the nation’s top assistant coach, but came up short to Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker. Moore was the Wolverines’ interim head coach for four games, all wins, including two top-10 victories over Penn State and Ohio State, this season. Moore stepped in in four of the six contests for which head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended.
“The most influential person in my life and [in coaching] is the head coach of Michigan, Jim Harbaugh,” Moore said at the Broyles Award ceremony. “Very special. He’s presented with an opportunity unlike many others — to be able to coach the offensive line, be the coordinator, call plays and put me in a position to be successful. Great leaders empower, and he really does that throughout the whole staff. That has allowed me to be in this position. I’m just so thankful for him and what he’s done for the staff that we have.”
Michigan graduate defensive back Mike Sainristil was a first-team All-Big Ten selection this season, two years after moving over from wide receiver. He’s been at U-M five seasons and has built up quite the resume, and legacy:

Quote Of The Day
“To be the best, you gotta beat the best, and Alabama’s one of the best. They’ve proved it. That means we gotta take this bowl game, we gotta prepare a lot more seriously coming up to January 1st. We’re willing to take those steps and do it. It’s all about the next game taking that next step. You know, that next step right now is Alabama. Next step is the Rose Bowl game. We have to take that next step and prepare accordingly before we can reach our biggest goals. We are on a mission, and with that mission, we have got to go on a journey. We’ve got to get everything done. We have to check off all the steps. You just got to take it one step at a time.”
