Michigan finished off the early signing period earlier this week with 23 prospects on scholarships to round out its 2023 recruiting class, finishing No. 20 overall nationally, according to the On3 Consensus National Team Recruiting Rankings, and the No. 3 best class in the Big Ten Conference.

Outside of the 23 set to join by no later than this upcoming June, with a majority already on campus taking part in team practices – leading up to the Fiesta Bowl on December 31st in Phoenix – as early enrollees, the Wolverines also signed six senior prospects who’ll arrive as incoming freshman next year as preferred walk-ons.

The 2023 preferred walk-ons for Michigan include two specialists, one in-state defensive standout in the secondary, and three offensive playmakers from out-of-state. Three of the six received multiple scholarships at the Division I level, varying between FBS and FCS. One intriguing talent out of New Jersey, who’s set to contribute on the offensive line, chose the Wolverines over notable offers from Marshall, Kent State, Buffalo, Navy, and Army.

One preferred walk-on is teammates with Dexter (Mich.) High On300 running back Cole Cabana and picked Michigan over other in-state PWO offers from Michigan State and Eastern Michigan. Another from the state of Virginia decommitted from FCS Bucknell and flipped to the Wolverines in mid-December.
