Newsstand: Mike Hart updates health on radio show
Michigan football running backs coach Mike Hart had a health scare earlier this month on the sidelines at Indiana but appears to have put the moment past him. Feeling good and being cleared by doctors, the U-M assistant and former team star returned for the win over Penn State on Oct. 15.
Hart was featured on this week’s episode of Inside Michigan Football on Monday night and updated where everything stands with him healthwise.
“I’m good, I’m good,” Hart said. “Life’s good. Health is good. No complaints at all.”
Hart collapsed on the sideline in Oct. 8’s win over Indiana, prompting him to leave the field on a cart and being taken to a local hospital. Hart reportedly suffered a seizure, but was cleared quickly by doctors after the scare in Bloomington and returned to action.
“Health is obviously number one and taking care of all those things,” Hart said. “Doctor said I was good to go. And obviously, I wanted to be back out there with my guys. They work hard, they practice hard, they play hard and the expectation is the same for me.

“We expect them to play hurt. We expect them to play injured when they’re not feeling the best. Once I got cleared with the docs, it was time to go. So it was time to be out there.”
Hart and his Michigan team are coming off a much-needed bye week to rest and refocus. The challenge coming out of the bye is the Michigan State Spartans, who come to Ann Arbor for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday night. The game will be broadcast via ABC.

Michigan quote of the day
“I’ve really got bigger fish to fry than Coach Franklin’s opinion on the halftime tunnel from a game ago. All you’ve got to do is walk into their locker room. I think you saw pretty clearly they completely stopped. They weren’t letting us get up the tunnel, and it just seemed like a sophomoric ploy to try to keep us out of our locker room. And he looked like he was the ringleader of the whole thing. But, no, I’ve got bigger fish to fry than worry about that kind of whining.”
