Coaches weigh in on Michigan vs. Minnesota matchup

“Another really good defense, really stout,” Harbaugh said on Monday. “The quarterback’s really coming along and has a tremendous ability to run the ball. Physical team, is going to be how they play. I mean, it’s an emotional, fired-up type of team. PJ (Fleck) does a great job. I mean, you could always tell they’re confident, no matter what, no matter what the stakes are, the odds are. You see in the way they play, hey play hard. And it’s all you can ever ask for a coach from your players is that they play hard. Our guys are doing it. Minnesota’s guys are. It’ll be a football fight like it is every Saturday. And we got to play good. Get prepared, practice and get ready to go execute in another one of those crazy, crazy college campus stadiums. But yeah, can’t wait.”

Minnesota has mutual respect for the Wolverines. Its head coach preaches a lot of the same program tentpoles that Michigan does.

“Coach Harbaugh does a great job of promoting team, team, team, team,” P.J. Fleck said in his Monday news conference. “It’s a ‘we-fense.’ I love that. When you watch their team and then they all talk about the team and that they all play for the team.

“Sometimes you can’t tell who’s in the game who just made that play because it’s not like just one guy is the star. They’re all the stars that make up their team and that’s hard to do. It’s hard to create. And I think he’s done a great job of creating, I think one of the best teams in the country and they’re ranked exactly where they probably should be.”

Saturday night’s game from TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast via NBC. Streamers will also be able to view the game on the Peacock app. The Wolverines return home next weekend for a game against the Indiana Hoosiers at noon on FOX.
