Michigan football players are four days away from learning their NFL Draft fate this week in Vegas. The Wolverines are set to be well-represented this year with as many as three first-round prospects.

Of course, this will revolve around how teams rate EDGE rusher David Ojabo. He tore his Achilles at Michigan’s pro day last month and faces a long rehab process. Playoff teams looking to add a project or rebuilding squads with longer timelines seem like a perfect fit.

Seven Wolverines appeared in the latest mock draft simulation we ran on The Draft Network. Here is a rundown of Michigan’s NFL talent in our latest dip into the 2022 draft.

Michigan EDGE Aidan Hutchinson (First round, No. 1 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars)

Nothing has changed here. Aidan Hutchinson is seemingly still the favorite to go No. 1 overall, but Georgia’s Travon Walker is making a push. Fans of the Detroit Lions are hoping he slides to them at No. 2, giving the team a local prospect as a franchise cornerstone to build around. Hutchinson was in Detroit this weekend to throw out the first pitch at the Tigers game and visited the Lions facility earlier in the week.

Safety Daxton Hill (First round, No. 18 overall, Philadelphia Eagles)

No Michigan prospect has done more for himself this draft cycle than Daxton Hill. One thought to be a fringe first-rounder, his athletic testing and versatility have NFL teams sold on him. The talk in league circles of late has Hill with a shot to come off the board in the top 20. Here, he heads to the Philadelphia Eagles.

EDGE David Ojabo (First round, No. 32 overall, Detroit Lions)

Remember what we said above about rebuilding teams that can afford to take a shot? The Lions fit the bill. The mock had them taking Liberty quarterback Malik Willis at No. 2, freeing them up for an EDGE at No. 32. The Lions are still early in their process and can afford to take a shot on a high-upside EDGE. He was a potential top-ten pick before the injury, but it would be understandable to be uneasy about a Willis/Ojabo combo. Both prospects are raw and will need time to develop.

Running back Hassan Haskins (Fifth round, No. 170 overall, New England Patriots)

Hassan Haskins has done tone a tone of work this offseason, but still seems he could come off the board somewhere in the fifth or sixth round. Michigan has made a habit of sending prospects to the Patriots in recent years. Haskins brings a ton of upside as a potential RB2 in a rotation and can also be a fixture on special teams. No matter where he is drafted, he feels safe as someone deserving of a roster spot.

Defensive tackle Chris Hinton (Sixth round, No. 203 overall, Buffalo Bills)

Chris Hinton took a lot of shots from fans after declaring for the draft early. He has been steady throughout the process and has a shot to come off the board somewhere late.

Linebacker Josh Ross (Seventh round, No. 235 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars)

The heartbeat of Michigan’s defense is going to bring a ton to a franchise from an intangibles standpoint. Josh Ross likely cracks a preseason roster as a depth linebacker and special teamer, but might have his work cut out for him making a team. He will have a shot in camp somewhere whether he is drafted or not.

Offensive lineman Andrew Stueber (Seventh round, No. 237, Philadelphia Eagles)

This one is a bit surprising. Andrew Stueber has some athletic limitations, but he is a smart, physical football player that offers positional versatility. He primarily played right tackle at Michigan, but also slid over to guard and repped at center during Senior Bowl week. The longer he is on the board, the better the value is for whoever winds up with him. It would not be stunning to see him have a career like his former peer Jon Runyan Jr.

Undrafted Michigan prospects

Cornerback Vincent Gray, safety Brad Hawkins and wide receiver Daylen Baldwin did not come off the board in the simulation. NFL teams could elect to take a late-round look at them or bring them in as undrafted free agents.

When Michigan prospects will be drafted

The 2022 NFL Draft will be held from April 28-30 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first round is set for Thursday night with second and third rounds taking place Friday. The event concludes on Saturday with rounds four through seven. The event will be broadcast via ESPN and NFL Network.
