LOOK: Second video emerges of postgame 'assault' in Michigan Stadium tunnel
Saturday night’s 29-7 Michigan win over Michigan State was quickly overshadowed by a violent scene in the tunnel after the game. A pair of Michigan players – identified as graduate cornerback Gemon Green and sophomore corner Ja’Den McBurrows – were shown on video being beaten and pushed around on their way to the locker room after the game.
Another video angle has surfaced of the postgame altercation, which appears to show a Spartan player swinging their helmet repeatedly at Green in the tunnel. It is unclear what happened between the postgame dust-up on the field and the altercation in the Big House tunnel.
Local authorities are investigating and the issue is being seen as a police matter.
The first video released late Saturday night showed McBurrows and a swarm of Spartans shoving and swinging at him. During his postgame press conference, head coach Jim Harbaugh said that two of his players were “assaulted” after the game.
“Just like anybody, you want to protect your players,” Harbaugh said. “Ten on one, whatever it was, it was just bad. It needs to be investigated and brought to a conclusion. Our athletic director will make sure that that takes place.”
Statements released from Michigan and MSU
Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker said immediately after the game he was unaware of what happened, but released a statement on Sunday morning.
“As Spartans our program has a responsibility to uphold the highest level of sportsmanship. While emotions were very high at the conclusion of our rivalry game at Michigan Stadium, there is no excuse for behavior that puts our team or our opponents at risk,” Tucker said via social media.

“In complete cooperation with law enforcement, the Big Ten Conference and MSU and UM leadership, we will evaluate the events in Ann Arbor and take swift and appropriate action.”
After the game, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel took the podium with Harbaugh to address the batter.
“What happened after the game was completely unacceptable. I talked to the commissioner. He is looking into it. We have the police also looking into it because they’ve seen the video. And so they’re addressing it. We will leave it in their hands, but this is not how we should interact after a game.
“This is not the way another team should grab a player and do what they did. It’s completely and utterly unacceptable. We will let the Big Ten and law enforcement handle it, but this is not what a rivalry should be about. It’s not how it should be remembered. We won on the field. This man [Jim Harbaugh] and his team, those players, went out there and won. And for that to happen is unacceptable. That’s all I’m going to say. I’ll leave it to Kevin and law enforcement to handle from here on out.”
