HOUSTON, Texas – The Michigan Wolverines had a busy day in Houston on Saturday with a media day event at the George R. Brown Convention Center and a practice at NRG Stadium, the site of Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship vs. Washington.

The Wolverine was on hand for both events, starting with the media day on Saturday morning. Select members of the Michigan program were available for podium sessions, while assistant coaches and the rest of the roster were available to be interviewed in one-on-ones.

In a game like this, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter told us that every stop is going to be a win against the Washington passing offense, which ranks No. 1 in the country.

Offensively, wide receiver Tyler Morris relayed the sense of urgency on his side of the ball, saying that Michigan has to be prepared and is ready for a shootout should one break out with the Huskies. Either way, there’s a knowledge among players on the roster that this is going to be an all-hands-on-deck effort on both sides of the ball.

Practice at NRG Stadium included a 15-minute look at the stretching portion of practice followed by some team drill work. Michigan had shoulder pads on, but was in shorts and joggers as it puts the finish touches on its game prep. Senior safety Makari Paige said earlier in the day he is fine and expects to play after missing the late stages of the Rose Bowl, while defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny was not spotted at media day or practice.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Clayton Sayfie discussed the takeaways from both events in a video that can be seen above or viewed on our YouTube channel.
