Wolverine TV: Offseason clarity for football, Olivier Nkamhoua speaks, more
We are back from a much-needed reset and vacation with a week to go until Big Ten Football Media Days and two weeks away from the start of fall camp for Michigan football. The break allowed for some time to clear our minds, but also prep them for what’s to come next.
Among that in our talking points on Monday night’s live show were storylines that we feel personal clarity on as the offseason winds down and camp begins. Our Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discuss the things they feel confident about heading into fall camp.
“I think that for me, I’m going to say it’s that I think the passing game is going to be much improved from last season, even though you lose a Ronnie Bell and you lose a second-round tight end,” Sayfie said on the show. “But I just think JJ McCarthy is going to take a pretty big step. And some of this stems from Jim Harbaugh’s comment predicting that it will be 50-50 run to pass. I don’t think it’s going to be that [exactly].
“All that matters is that you have everything at your disposal on a given down in a given situation against a given opponent. And I think Michigan’s going to have that more times than it did last season because you have a second-year starting quarterback.
Balas chimed in with his, saying:
“The one thing I would say with confidence is that this is going to be a healthy unit. There are a lot of bodies there, so I’m excited about it and just happy that they’re healthy because you want to start the season without any nicks and bumps and bruises. Hopefully, they get through the fall that way as well. Knock on wood.”
