Michigan and Ohio State will renew their storied football rivalry on Nov. 26 in Columbus. If it has the stakes on the line that 2021’s game did, college football fans should be in for another batch of Big Ten fireworks.

The Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 42-27 last season, which earned them a trip to the Big Ten Championship game. This ultimately led to the program’s first trip to the College Football Playoff. Similar goals will be on the mind of both teams heading into the rivalry title.

On3.com’s Mike Huguenin looked at the best matchups of the season by each weekend where the Week 13 matchup came up on top.

“Is this the best rivalry in college football? It’s either No. 1 or 2,” Huguenin writes. “Michigan beat the Buckeyes last season on its way to the College Football Playoff; that snapped Ohio State’s eight-game winning streak in the series. The Buckeyes have won 17 of the past 20 against the Wolverines, and the last time they lost two in a row to their archrivals was 1999-2000. Ohio State is the team to beat in the Big Ten this season, thanks to what should again be a prolific offense. Michigan last won in Columbus in 2000.”

Michigan leads the all-time series between the two schools by a margin of 59-51-6. They have not won consecutive games in the rivalry since 1999-2000.

Michigan hero remembers Ohio State win

Michigan football running back Hassan Haskins is the boogeyman to the Ohio State Buckeyes for his role in a 42-27 win on Nov. 27. He ran 28 times for 169 yards and five touchdowns in the team’s first win over its hated rival since 2011. That helped him pave the way to the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Haskins spoke on ESPN 102.5 The Game’s “Darren, Daunic and Chase” in Nashville earlier this month and relived the memory. He said the Buckeyes had the game lost the moment they stepped on the field.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that,” Haskins said. “That moment was a moment that I’ll never forget, and I’m glad we got done. Me and my teammates, we were prepared. I feel like we were the more prepared team, and it showed. Actually, I could tell by the coin toss. It was a little cold out there, but in my mind I couldn’t feel the cold. But I had seen in their eyes, they were already defeated. We just went out there and showed that we can get it done.”

This year’s Michigan vs. Ohio State game will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on FOX from Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
