The Michigan Wolverines came into Spartan Stadium and humiliated their in-state rivals by a score of 49-0 on Saturday night. Michigan State was completely out of sorts and was dominated on their home field with U-M looking to send a message coming out of last year’s postgame assaults and the latest dance with the NCAA.

It didn’t matter. It was another week of domination and the starters exiting the game in the third quarter.

The Wolverine’s Anthony Broome recapped the win from the press box in East Lansing with co-host and former Michigan defensive end Ryan Van Bergen joining, who called it another complete win for the Maize and Blue.

”It all came together,” Van Bergen said after the emphatic win for the Wolverines. “I think we’ve been waiting to see if Michigan can play a complete game and we kind of have seen this team progress throughout the season. And of course, you can always reference the quality of opponents in the preseason. But now we’re in the Big Ten schedule and the Big Ten schedule is what it is.

“And that’s definitely not the best Michigan State team that I’ve seen in recent years, but to go out there against a rival in a night game environment at their place and shut them out and run your offense as effectively as I think that offense can run. And just be pristine in all elements of the game, this team is right where you want them to be as you head into a bye week and head into November and November is the home stretch.”

What’s next for the Wolverines?

Michigan is on a bye next weekend before returning to game action at home on Nov. 4 against the Purdue Boilermakers. A game time and TV designation will be made official on Monday. Rumors from the offseason have it as a night game for NBC on their Big Ten wishlist for this year.
