Michigan is preparing to bring in multiple preferred walk-on commits in the 2023 class who are intriguing under-the-radar talents and are ready to earn a scholarship with the Big Ten powerhouse.

That includes Dexter (Mich.) High late-riser Micah Davis, who’s teammates with On300 running back Cole Cabana, and is currently the only true safety that the Wolverines have brought in so far this cycle. Davis chose Michigan over other preferred walk-on offers from Michigan State and Eastern Michigan. He also picked up scholarships from Davenport, Penn, Butler, UT Martin, and others.

Davis received the PWO opportunity from Michigan right after his school clinched a conference title in mid-October over its arch rival, Saline, as the 6-foot-2 and 185-pounder recorded an intercpetion in front of Mike Hart and Grant Newsome, who were both in attendance in support of Dexter. He later visited the week of his commitment which helped churn his growing relationship with Jay Harbaugh, Albert Karschnia, and Christina DeRuyter.

“I’ve always been a fan of Michigan and I love the school,” Davis told The Wolverine right after he committed. “I know it’s strong academically and I can set myself up (for success after graduation). So I took a chance on myself. I know I’m a hard worker and I know that I’ll be set up with all of the instruments and resources that Michigan provides if I do my part. That includes staying the classroom and weight room, listening to the coaches, and always being on time. I took a chance on going to a big time place like that but I’ll enjoy every part of it and have fun, no matter what.”

Davis has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6K with 957 combined followers on Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
