Wolverine TV recruiting show: New On3 RPM pick, Dante Moore visits Michigan, more
TheWolverine.com’s Clayton Sayfie and EJ Holland break down the latest surrounding Michigan Wolverines football recruiting. We discuss a new On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick in for the Maize and Blue to land a 2023 target, two huge visitors for last Thursday’s basketball game against Iowa — five-star quarterback Dante Moore and four-star defensive lineman Devan Houstan — and more.
Holland broke down why Moore’s visit for the Michigan hoops game was so significant.
“This wasn’t one that was really planned going in to the week, so it wsa a great job by the staff getting him in,” Holland said of the visit from the top Michigan target. “And there’s been so much Notre Dame buzz in this recruitment as of late, and I think Dante put it best when I did that big interview, or many big interviews, with him as I spent quite a bit of time with him during his team’s travels to Tennessee a couple weeks ago — he said, ‘Look, I’m not the one making these predictions. I want to take my visits, and I want to see all of these schools.
“Something that is really important to Dante is to also get his mother to come on official visits as well. His mom lives in Ohio; he lives with his dad in Detroit, so she’s never really been on college visits with him.
“He knows there’s a lot of pressure on him to commit early. He’s a quarterback, so usually quarterbacks commit early, they lead their class, those spots go quickly, since you really only take one guy at the position in a lot of years. That’s weighing on Dante, so could he decide sooner than he wants to — based on all of those factors — but at the same time, Dante would rather wait if he has his choice.
“And he’s such an elite talent that he can kind of afford to wait, and Michigan has continued to make him the No. 1 guy. They’re not actively recruiting really any other quarterbacks right now — Dante is No. 1 on the board, and that means Michigan still feels optimistic. If Michigan felt really pessimistic or they were starting to panic, you’d see quarterback offers go out. So they’re not really panicking at this time.

“The big thing with Dante was getting him in and making him feel comfortable with some of the offensive staff.”
