Michigan football: Reported Penn State kickoff time revealed
One of the key games of Michigan football’s stretch run through the 2023 season may now have a kickoff time. As expected, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy is reporting that U-M/Penn State will be a noon kickoff on Nov. 11 in Happy Valley.
This had been the word on the street in recent weeks and an official announcement should come any time now, per a source.
Michigan is 2-2 in the Jim Harbaugh era (5-3 overall) when playing at Penn State with both its wins coming in the daylight (2015, 2021) and the losses coming in night games (2017, 2019). Both are expected to contend for the Big Ten East title, so a less raucous atmosphere could help things turn in favor of the Wolverines.

The Wolverines have won the last two games in the series with a 21-17 win in Happy Valley and a 41-17 drubbing in Ann Arbor last season. This is expected to be a huge swing game in the Big Ten East race between two top-10 programs.

News is scarce as it pertains to the rest of Michigan football’s schedule and kickoff times. U-M and Ohio State are set for the Big Noon Kickoff game on Nov. 25, thanks to a recent announcement. There has been buzz about the home opener against East Carolina potentially being a night game, but nothing has been made official on that front. The Wolverines will also play road games at Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan State with all of those kickoff times up in the air.
With new TV partners this season in NBC and CBS, along with FOX, more options are on the table than ever as it pertains to marquee games. Each network drafts games each week with a different entity having the first pick. This is the last year that the SEC will have games televised on CBS, so the 3:30 p.m. slot may not always feature a Big Ten game. CBS moves in full to the Big Ten in 2024 with the SEC heading over to ESPN’s family of networks full-time.
FOX is expected to broadcast the largest share of the Big Ten games with around 30 broadcasts each season. CBS and NBC are set to hold around 15-18 games per year, according to multiple media reports. The Big Ten’s new deal with FOX, CBS and NBC is worth an estimated $8 billion.
