No. 24 Michigan Wolverines football will take part in the first ranked-on-ranked matchup at Memorial Stadium since 2000, set to take on No. 22 Illinois. This will be Michigan’s second road game of the season, and the Wolverines will wear their white tops with blue pants and white accessories.

From 2015-20, Michigan went with white pants on the road for all but one game under head coach Jim Harbaugh. However, in 2021 the Wolverines began mixing up their uniform combination. When wearing white jerseys since the 2021 campaign, the Wolverines have gone with white pants six times, maize pants for six games and blue pants for five outings. This will be the sixth time Michigan sports blue pants as a road team since 2021.

The Wolverines may not view the Fighting Illini as a rival, but Illinois sees the opportunity to notch a win in this series as a reason to celebrate due to how few and far between those have been. Michigan has a 72-23-2 advantage, winning eight of the last 10 overall and 11 of the past 13 in Champaign with one tie. The two victories in the last 10 meetings came against U-M head coach Rich Rodriguez in seasons the Wolverines’ missed bowl eligibility (2008, 2009).
