WATCH: Sherrone Moore, Kalen DeBoer interviews at ReliaQuest Bowl contract signing ceremony
Michigan Wolverines football head man Sherrone Moore and Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer traveled to Tampa, Fla., the site of the ReliaQuest Bowl, for a contract signing ceremony. The two head coaches spoke with reporters in previewing the Dec. 31 game.

Moore discussed Michigan’s matchup with Alabama in Tampa.
“Super excited for the opportunity to play a great opponent in Tampa,” he said. “Excited to get away from the cold weather for a little bit. Love our state of Michigan, but sometimes it’s fun to get away from that weather up there. We’re ready to go, and the boys are getting prepared right now.
“Just another opportunity to play the game that you love and play the game with your brothers. The boys are preparing. We’re on a low boil right now, as we’ve got some time to go play, but they’re super excited.”
Moore is in his first season as Michigan’s head coach and was asked how he’s adapted to the role, after being promoted from his post as offensive coordinator and line coach.
“I think it’s constant,” he noted. “You never reach your pinnacle goal of where you want to be. Even when you win championships, you still want to get better and strive to get better. That question will get answered when I get done coaching, which is hopefully not for a long time.”
Moore said Michigan’s players are fired up to take on Alabama, who they beat in the CFP semifinal at the Rose Bowl last season.
“They’re excited,” he said. “Obviously, we had a great matchup last year in the Rose Bowl. I think it was the most watched game in college football. I know there were a lot of people tuned in, so we’re excited for the support.”

“I think it’ll carry over. It’s a new game, different teams. But the boys will be ready on both sides of the football.”
DeBoer, meanwhile, doesn’t believe that there will be much carryover from last year’s game to this one. However, the former Washington coach, who lost to Michigan in the national title game, and some Huskies who came with him will also be playing U-M for the second time this calendar year.
“I think there a lot of changes,” DeBoer said. “We’re talking from coaching staffs to probably 35 guys on our roster that are different, just from a scholarship standpoint. Yeah, everyone’s aware of it, but I think this is more — for us, at least — about our team this year and the journey we’re on and knowing that, yeah, we’re facing a program that’s had a lot of success as well.
“Understanding also, I know for me, there are guys on our team that lined up against them less than a year ago.
“But I think, again, we’re so focused on what we can control, who we are right now and trying to be the best we can be for the 2024 team.”
