Michigan has dealt with distractions and adversity over the last several weeks. The Wolverines played without head coach Jim Harbaugh, who was suspended by the Big Ten in unprecedented fashion. Moore is proud of his group for keeping its focus.

“Really, the biggest thing is we try to focus on what we’re working on, keeping the main thing the main thing as our guys say,” Moore said. “Not looking too far into the future, not looking at the past and doing what we can every single day to get better and just attack that moment. So, not trying to look at the outside world and what people are saying. We know what we have in that building and staying together as a group is the most important thing for us.”

Michigan was 3-for-3 on fourth downs, with an aggressive approach after playing more conservatively offensively the last couple weeks.

“Let’s go. That’s it,” Moore said of what Michigan’s mindet was. “The players just practiced so well this week. They practice well every week. When you have confidence they’re going to execute at a high level, it’s just like first down. Feel like I told them we were going to be aggressive, wanted to be aggressive, wanted to attack it, and those guys went out there and played their tails off.”

Harbaugh had a message for Moore before the game, and it was simple. Moore is now the first interim Michigan coach to beat Ohio State since Lloyd Carr in 1995.

“Big thing he said to me was he loved me and ‘do me.’ I told him the same thing,” Moore said. “I love him, and we’ve got his back. Like I said in the interview, we’ve got his back. We’ll do anything for him. Players will run through a wall for him, so will the coaches, so we were just prepared to go win this game for him.”

Senior guard Zak Zinter went down with a bad leg injury in the second half. Moore has coached him on the Michigan offensive line and had trouble seeing him leave the field on a cart.

“It was extremely difficult,” Moore said. “When you’re around a player for four years, or you’re just around all these guys in general, you don’t want to see any of them get hurt in any way. It was hard, especially a kid of his caliber on and off the field, more so off the field. Just a great student athlete, great person. Just got off the phone with his mom. Think we got some positive news. He’ll heal, and he’ll be ready to go down the road at some point.”
