Michigan senior running back Blake Corum has rushed 15 times from the 5-yard line and in, scoring all 12 of his touchdowns in those situations. Moore said he has a great deal of confidence calling those plays.

“Pretty high. Very high,” he said. “[Run game coordinator and running backs] Coach [Mike] Hart does a great job with the backs at subbing and all that. Just the way those guys are knocking guys up front when we do those packages and those things, it’s giving me high confidence to do that when we get down there.

“It’s his low center of gravity, the way he runs his legs on contact, the physicality and, probably more importantly, the mindset he has that he’s not going to get stopped.”

The Michigan offense has been running smooth through seven games. Moore said there are times where he feels like he’s in a zone calling plays, but the players make it easier than anything else.

“Yeah, it’s also easy when you’ve got really good players,” the Michigan coach noted. “The players help, and the way they practice and the way they execute practice kind of gives you a feel of how the game flow is going to go and what you can call in certain situations. I feel like there are times where you’re like, yeah, man, you can feel it, you can feel that, this is the time to call this one, this is the time to call this one. But the kids do such a great job during the week of, these plays, they really like this. Ah, not this one so much. That helps me organize and figure out what areas of the field to call those certain plays.”

Michigan takes on Michigan State this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with the game held in East Lansing. U-M has won three of the last five in the in-state series.
