The Michigan Wolverines are 8-0 after a massive 49-0 blowout win over the Michigan State Spartans in Eat Lansing and are staying at No. 2 in this week’s AP poll. Georgia remains at No. 1 after despite a bye week despite the U-M victory.

Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State and Washington make up the top five, while Oklahoma, Oregon, Alabama and Penn State round out the top ten.

Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are the only teams ranked out of the Big Ten Conference, which is no surprise at this point considering the conference has made a habit of cannibalizing itself throughout the year. Iowa fell out of the rankings after a 12-10 loss to Minnesota on Saturday in Iowa City.

Harbaugh weighs in on Michigan State win

Our guys really had a single mindset of get prepared, beat State. That was pretty much—if anyone around the building wanted to talk about anything else, they didn’t want to. They wanted to just talk about the game, preparation and practice. Get ready and execute to the—I thought they played their best. Got a little saying around here, what you do speaks so loud they can’t even hear what you’re saying. I think our guys did a tremendous job of just taking it one play at a time. They were a real buzzsaw. Played really great football. There’s been stuff, there’s been attempts to diminish the team in a lot of ways. Starting with the easy schedule, it’s too easy of a schedule, you guys aren’t very good, that kind of thing. They just play and they’ll do that again today. We’ll move on to the next one with humble hearts. It’s a heckuva group and I just congratulate them for—their focus was laser-like. Stayed strong, focused. Just on a mission.

What’s next for the Wolverines?

Michigan is on a bye next weekend before returning to game action at home on Nov. 4 against the Purdue Boilermakers. A game time and TV designation will be made official on Monday. Rumors from the offseason have it as a night game set for NBC, who listed the game as one of its preferred options.
