WATCH: Takeaways from Sherrone Moore's first week on the job, Q&A
The Michigan Wolverines are into their second full week of the Sherrone Moore era with no shortage of moves to come with the coaching staff and roster retention. It figures to be a busy few days and weeks in the leadup to the start of spring football.
TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome, Chris Balas and Clayton Sayfie discussed their takeaways from the first week on the job, what the next priorities are and took questions from fans in their Monday night edition of the podcast.
“We haven’t heard anything definitive one way or another [on defensive line coach Mike Elston], Balas said. “It’s been radio silent. Also silent as we’ve noted on defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale and as we reported, he was not happy at one point, but he was still recruiting as was Elston. The longer it goes guys without wrapping these guys up, then the more concerned you get.
“And that’s where we are today. You cannot afford to lose those two guys. Then you’re talking about open season on the roster. You’re talking about guys like Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham having lost their head coach, their strength coach, their position coach, their defensive coordinator. It would take a lot of money, I think, for them to stick around. And I don’t know that Michigan’s got it in the NIL. So for all those people that were saying that not having a NIL plan in place isn’t a big deal, and they’re playing catch up, here’s your worst-case scenario. So let’s hope it doesn’t come to fruition.”
