Michigan football: The 16 players who will enroll this summer

The Michigan Wolverines have the bulk of their roster on campus and ready to roll for the 2025 season, but 16 more players will join as summer enrollees.
Between the high school and transfer portal hauls, the team will be complete in June as everyone gets acclimated.
Here are the 16 players who will arrive on campus shortly for the Wolverines.
Freshmen still to enroll
Elijah Dotson, cornerback
The former Belleville defensive back and four-star recruit committed to the program in November just before his classmate, No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood.
Ty Haywood, offensive lineman
The top-50 offensive tackle/guard committed in February and could be a future fixture up front.
Chase Herbstreit, quarterback
The son of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit will add another healthy arm to the quarterback room and round out its depth.
Nate Marshall, EDGE
The nation’s No. 40 overall prospect in the 2025 class committed in December and could be a star in time, keeping the program’s pass rush pedigree intact.
Jasper Parker, running back
The Louisiana product and three-star prospect rushed for over 7,000 yards during his high school career.
Benny Patterson, defensive lineman
Patterson was a late bloomer in the 2025 cycle, but On3 is incredibly high on him as the No. 97 player in the class and No. 12 EDGE. He will play defensive tackle at U-M.
Jayden Sanders, defensive back
At 6-2, 175, the No. 175 player in the class will add some length to the cornerback rotation.
Jacob Washington, wide receiver
Michigan wanted to get taller at wide receiver and addressed that with the addition of Washington, who stands at 6-3, 180 and is a four-star recruit.
Kainoa Winston, defensive back
The No. 91 player in the class could be another strong nickel for the Wolverines once he gets his feet wet in college.

Michigan’s lingering transfer portal additions
Luke Bauer, punter
The former Missouri punter will compete with Hudson Hollenbeck to be the team’s starter.
Lawrence Hattar, offensive lineman
Hattar was a D2 All-American at Ferris State and could be a dark horse to crack the two-deep at the guard position.
Trent Middleton, long snapper
Michigan added some competition on special teams with the addition of Middleton this offseason.
CJ Hester, running back
Hester ran for 529 yards and 4 touchdowns last season and will compete for RB3 reps in fall camp.
Anthony Simpson, wide receiver
Simpson’s last productive season in college came with Steve Casula, now Michigan TEs coach and Co-OC, calling plays for him. He adds some experience and competition in the slot.
Beckham Sunderland, kicker
More depth and competition for the kicking room despite Dominic Zvada’s presence.
John Volker, running back
The Princeton alum adds some special teams ability and veteran depth at the backend of the RB room.
