Michigan football the frontrunner for portal defensive tackle?
Michigan football concludes spring football this week with what looks like a team loaded at several positions, deep at most. But head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff are always looking for more potential contributors, and they might be closing in on one at a position of need.

Central Florida defensive tackle Cam Goode (6-2, 315) out of Washington D.C. St. John’s was in this weekend. Folks close to it say the visit couldn’t have gone much better. In fact, his parents were spotted at the Detroit airport decked out in Michigan gear and with bags of merchandise from the M-Den, visit lanyards still around their necks.
The decision isn’t theirs, of course. Goode, a former Virginia Tech Hokie before transferring to UCF, will make up his own mind, and he has options. He visited Vanderbilt before Michigan, and he was at Syracuse before that.
Though not tall, Goode has a great first step and the ability to get to the quarterback from the interior. He also has a knack for forcing turnovers. He was 12th in the nation with four forced fumbles this year and also notched 24 tackles (four for loss), three sacks, and interception, three passes broke up and four quarterback hurries.
In 2020, the lineman recorded three sacks in addition to 19 tackles. Goode was also second on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss that year.

By all accounts, this one is looking good for Michigan. He’s still contemplating a Notre Dame visit, however, so it’s not over yet.
In addition, there are indications Michigan might still be working on getting Donovan Jeter back for a sixth year. Jeter took part in Pro Day, but the 6-3, 325-pounder is apparently open to a return should he be cleared.
Jeter appeared in all 14 games along the defensive line, making 24 tackles including two tackles for loss. He also notched two pass breakups with one blocked kick.
He and/or Goode would add to a defensive line that appears to be in solid shape heading into summer and fall.
