Michigan football is a day closer to the start of the 2022 season and home opener against the Colorado State Rams. The quarterback battle between senior Cade McNamara and sophomore J.J. McCarthy continues to dominate storylines, but there is still plenty to sift through ahead of Week 1.

“[J.J.’s progress] has been tremendous,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday. “He’s continued to flourish and getting better and better every day. Cade’s done the same thing. They have both elevated their game accordingly, playing their game, what they’re really good at. Working on the things they can improve.

“Cade’s really been much improved in just about every area, including managing the pocket and extending plays. That’s one of J.J.’s fortes as a player. I see J.J. doing that really well, continuing to do that well, but also improving on going through the reads, taking what the defense gives him, protecting the football.”

Each Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. ET, John Borton of The Wolverine and a rotating cast of guests will discuss the biggest storylines from the weekend and take your questions live on our YouTube channel.

This week’s topics include:

— QBs splitting starts
— Who starts game 3?
— How does non-starter react?
— Will M open up the offense, more
— Team leader in receiving
— Key signs for the D
— Graham as DT starter
— Green saying D is faster
— Colorado State … can they make it a second-half game?
–– Fan questions throughout
