TJ Guy, Rayshaun Benny share latest on decisions for 2025 season
ANN ARBOR—The Michigan Wolverines are busy preparing for the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama on Dec. 31, but roster decisions are ongoing for the 2025 season. Chief among them are a pair of senior defensive linemen, TJ Guy and Rayshaun Benny, who are in play to return for another year.
Both spoke to the media on Wednesday from Schembechler Hall and quarterback Davis Warren and updated where they are in the process a potential Michigan return.
“Not set in stone,” Guy told The Wolverine. “But you know, I want to stay in Michigan and be a Michigan man. There are some things that go into that. But yeah, I’m leaning towards coming back for sure.”
Both Guy and junior Derrick Moore have been priorities to return, and each stated they were leaning that direction at the Champions Circle toy drive over the weekend. But nothing is official just yet.
“[Derrick Moore] is my guy,” Guy said. “I feel like we can cause a lot of havoc together, so his decision definitely plays a huge role in mine. But yeah, we can work really well together.”

Guy, who has one season of eligibility remaining, was a fixture in the EDGE rotation this year and started two games this season against Minnesota (27-24 W, Sept. 28) and at Washington (27-17 L, Oct. 5). He finished the regular season with 29 total tackles and 5.5 sacks.
Guy is fifth in total quarterback pressures this year on the Michigan roster with 22, behind only Josaiah Stewart (35), Mason Graham (30), Moore (30) and Kenneth Grant (27). He was 12th in snaps played with 367 total reps in 12 regular season games.
Benny did not have much to say, and played it coy with the Michigan media when asked about his decision.
“This season was my fourth year,” Benny said. “This is my senior year. [So] I don’t know.”
Benny played in 12 games this year as a rotational piece behind Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant on the Michigan defensive line, racking up 28 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and 2 passes defended. He would be expected to anchor the defensive tackle rotation in 2025 with some reinforcement on the way via the transfer portal in former Alabama lineman Damon Payne Jr., who committed on Wednesday.
