Michigan football tumbles in AP Poll after loss to Washington
The Michigan Wolverines fell to 4-2 on the season after a 27-17 loss at Washington on Saturday night in Seattle. As a result, a fall in this week’s AP Poll occurred with U-M coming in at the No. 24 spot in the country.
The fall is 14 spots from last week.
Saturday was absolute chaos across college football with six teams ranked inside the top-11 losing, all but one to unranked teams. That made for major shakeups across the board.
Texas is back at No. 1 with Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Georgia rounding out the top five. Six Big Ten teams are ranked with OSU (2nd), Oregon (3rd), Penn State (4th), Indiana (T-18th), Illinois (23rd) and Michigan. The Wolverines play four of those teams down the stretch this season.

“I don’t think there’s one thing,” Moore said. “This game is… it’s football. Momentum swings back and forth. I think that the big plays, the things that happened, helped them. They tied the game up, and then obviously they got 10 points off a short-field turnover. I think our defense did a great job adjusting in the second half, and it was hard for them to drive the ball down the field. It took some time. And, in the second half, in the fourth quarter, those two turnovers were huge. They got 10 points off of them. So, we got to do a better job taking care of the football in all aspects. Jack’s going to beat himself up about that, but we can’t let him do that. We got to uplift him, and as a team, take care of him.”
Michigan is off for a week now in the first of two byes this season. The program returns to game action on Oct. 19 with a road trip to Illinois. Kickoff time and network designation could be announced as early as Monday.
