Where Michigan sits in 2025 On3 Consensus national team recruiting rankings
Michigan is ranked No. 6 overall in the 2025 On3 Consensus National Team Recruiting Rankings following the verbal commitment of Buford (Ga.) High linebacker Mantrez Walker.
Walker becomes the second rising sophomore to join the Wolverines in the 2025 cycle. Walker chose Michigan over offers from Florida, LSU, Penn State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and UCF.
“I pretty much always knew who I wanted to play for,” Walker told The Wolverine. “So when I got the Michigan offer, I really cherished it. When I went up there for my visit, I left with the same level of love that I always had. I also wasn’t really trying to stress out over the recruitment process. I knew in my heart where I wanted to go. So I thought, why not?”
The Wolverines entered the mix for Walker back in early December when the coaching staff visited Buford High and ended up offering three of Walker’s teammates as well. The 6-foot-1 and 215-pounder quickly scheduled his visit to Ann Arbor for the following month where he received personal time alongside head coach Jim Harbaugh, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, linebackers coach George Helow, and assistant linebackers coach LaTroy Lewis.
Michigan was included in Walker’s top four list that was released eight day ago which also had the Nittany Lions, Gators, and Tigers added.
“I’m feeling good about it,” Walker said. “Now, I’m going to continue to work and continue to prove why I‘m a Michigan commit. I’m going to bring a good attitude to the program and help them win a national championship.

Michigan 2025 Recruiting Class
Before Saturday, the Wolverines were still ranked in the top ten in the country for 2025, but are now one-of-three Power 5 school next to Georgia and LSU to have two or more commits. The addition of Walker brought Michigan to a total score of 86.241, which sits slightly above programs like Auburn, Syracuse, Oregon, Florida State, and Cal, who are all at 78.732.
Rounding out the two-men class is Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Top 100 cornerback Chris Ewald Jr.
Multiple 2025 linebackers targets are on Michigan’s board, including Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s Gavin Nix, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman’s Landon McComber, Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Anthony Sacca, Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice’s Christian Pierce, San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) San Juan Hills’ Weston Port, and Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton’s Paul Nelson.
