Newsstand: Three Wolverines named Walter Camp preseason All-Americans
Michigan football still has plenty of talent left over from its Big Ten Championship run, which will put the program in a position to repeat in 2022. One of the biggest barometers for returning talent are watch lists and preseason teams. Michigan is well-represented on one that carries a lot of weight.
The Walter Camp Foundation announced its picks for its preseason All-Americans ahead of the 2022 season. Three Wolverines cracked the list.
Graduate kicker Jake Moody made the First-Team, while transfer center Olu Oluwatimi and junior running back Blake Corum came in with Second-Team honors.
Moody, the Lou Groza Award-winning kicker in 2021, led Michigan in scoring with 125 points while hitting on 23-of-25 of his field-goal attempts and all 56 extra points. He took care of business in the kickoff game, too. 65 of his 98 kickoffs went for touchbacks. He is coming of Consensus All-American honors in 2021 and was the Big Ten Kicker of the Year.

Oluwatimi was the addition of the offseason for Michigan. The former Virginia Cavalier was a Rimington Award semifinalist in 2021. He is projected to slide into the starting role vacated by the graduated Andrew Vastardis.
Corum is set to led Michigan’s backfield along with sophomore Donovan Edwards. He finished the 2021 season with 1,093 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns. Corum’s play earned him All-Big Ten honors.

Michigan quote of the day
“He can play pick and roll, he can play post up, but to be honest with you, I don’t think he has enough vertical movement and is a very good wing player with the ball in his hands yet. So his best skills on offense will be cutting off the ball — because he has a very good feel for the game, he knows how to get good position, he uses body fakes — and shooting the ball off the catch. Also, going for offensive rebounds. He’s undersized, he’s around 6-7, but he really has good timing, understanding of the game, he knows how to get position for offensive rebounds. He will be good on offense.”
