Michigan basketball head coach Juwan Howard is still serving his suspension for two more games, but it’s senior night in Ann Arbor tonight. The Wolverines take on Iowa after pounding Michigan State, 87-70, and need another good performance.

We talk about that in today’s chat, along with several other topics. Among them:

• Michigan spring football. There have been several movers and shakers already in spring, and others are certain to emerge.

The Wolverines are on spring break this week, and quarterback Cade McNamara is on the West Coast working with his trainer.

Denard Robinson is headed back to Michigan

Denard Robinson will be back with the program in an assistant director of player personnel role. Head coach Jim Harbaugh is thrilled to have him.

“Denard is an energetic guy who always has a smile on his face,” Harbaugh said in a statement released by the program. “He will be a positive addition to our program in both the player personnel and player development areas… we are excited to have Denard back home at Michigan helping our team.”

Robinson said yesterday it was a dream come true to return to Michigan.

“I’m excited,” Robinson told former Michigan All-American Jon Jansen on the In the Trenches Podcast. “To be honest with you, I was just excited about being around the game. I always knew, thought in the back of my head I was going to do something along the lines of football when I was done playing. Whether it was coaching or being in the player personnel department. It was something I was going to be around.

“I love the game too much to just walk away from it.”

• The portal. Michigan needs some help on the defensive line. Will the Wolverines be able to find it?

The coaches will look diligently for depth here, and could turn to a familiar face.
